Eye Examination is an activity that is often carried out by the Ophthalmology department of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University as a manifestation of one of the pillars of the Education Tri Dharma, namely dedication. This time, the eye examination activity was carried out at Al Madina Islamic Middle School Semarang on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 08.00 to 11.00. This activity was organized by the Indonesian Eye Nurses Association, in collaboration with the Central Java Branch of Perdami (Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association), still in celebration of World Sight Day 2022.
The high enthusiasm of the teachers and students was felt, as evidenced by the warm welcome at this activity so that the event went well and smoothly even though it involved quite a number of participants, namely 215 students of Al Madina Junior High School. The series of eye examination activities began with education about the dangers of excessive use of gadgets to eye health by Doctor Tegar. The impact of gadgets on children’s eye health is an important topic to convey considering the widespread use of gadgets among children at this time. The activity continued with basic visual examination, corrective visual examination, and color blind screening. By conducting a series of education and eye examinations, it is hoped that it will increase awareness of eye health, which is not limited to only the students, but also the entire community of Al Madina Junior High School, and if there are any results that show abnormalities in the eye examination, they can be treated immediately.
